We want you to be completely comfortable with any procedures that we perform when caring for  your child. Here are some standard questions to ask your pediatric dentist before a surgery or even just a filling!

How was the Diagnosis Made?

We are always happy to explain in plain English how we make diagnosis of both simple and severe complications in oral health. There is an international system for evaluating treatment options for your child and our dentists follow it strictly.  Educate yourself on common procedures performed by a dentist to stay informed about your child’s oral care.

Can You Point out the Problem Area?

Before performing any serious procedures we take precautions in the form of an X-ray. Ask your pediatric dentist to show where the cavity, crowding, or tooth decay is taking place to better understand your child’s issues.

How does the Procedure Work?

Before your child undergoes a procedure, feel free to ask us to take you through the procedure. Our dentists will gently explain what will happen during the procedure to put your child at ease and calm  your nerves.
All of our dentists are trained to work with children and know how to explain our work in a comforting manner that will squelch any fears you may have!

What Type of Sedation is Planned?

While most procedures will not necessitate the use of general anesthesia there are instances where you child will be partially or fully sedated. There are a couple sedation options including nitrous oxide (laughing gas), oral sedatives, IV sedation and general anesthesia, each of which carry various risks.
Our dentists are happy to explain the sedation process and how to prepare for procedures. If you have any more questions about your child’s dental care give us a call!
