Looking to get your children out of the house this Spring? The city of Chandler is hosting a variety of events that preschoolers, teens and everyone in between will love. Don’t miss these fun events that make for perfect educational family outings!

Sharing Our Heritage: Chandler Latino Voices

When: Saturday, March 5, 2016 2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m.
Where: Downtown Library, 22 S. Delaware Street
What: The Chandler Museum, Chandler Historical Society and Chandler Library presents a celebration of Latino history in Arizona. Bring your family to hear experiences and oral recollections of Chandler’s Latino History over the past 100 years. Your children will discover stories of Mexican American families, war veterans and those who continues to empower the community.

C-Town Suitcase Club

Museum C Town Suitcase meetingWhen: Every third Tuesday of the month through May 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.
Where: Chandler Museum
What: Bring your preschoolers to the Chandler Museum to travel through time and explore every day objects. This event is perfect for 3–5 year orders and their caregivers to learn about the past and present of places and objects they are familiar with today.
Upcoming meetings:

  • Tools – March 15, 2016
    Explore tools from the past and compare them to the ones your children may find in their own home toolbox, garage or kitchen!
  • Spools – April 19, 2016
    At this meeting your children will learn about thread, thimbles, darning tools, and spools. They will see how thread is made, practice sewing and even make a toy from a wooden thread spool!
  • Schools – May 17, 2016
    Travel back in time to experience a typical school day in the far back into the past! Your children will get to ring the school bell, hear a poem and learn about the silly rules that students of the past had to follow.

Science Saturday

When: The second Saturday of the month through May 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Where: Tumbleweed Ranch, Tumbleweed Park, 2250 S. McQueen Road
What: The Museum of Science and Stability presents science experiments the whole family will enjoy. The upcoming dates cover the following topics:

  • March 12, 2016 Science of Flying Birds
  • April 9, 2016 Geology: Between a Rock and a Hard Place
  • May 14, 2016 The Power of the Sun

Designing Our Deserts

Farmers and Ranchers to Digital Frontiers
When: May 20, 2016
Where: Crowne Plaza San Marcos
What: Celebrate the City of Chandler’s magnificent past with the Chandler Historical Society! The event will feature keynote speaker Dr. Craig Barrett, retired Intel CEO and Chairman of the Board, who will speak about how far the city’s come in it’s transformation to the Southwest’s Silicon Valley.
What was once an agricultural epicenter for cotton, sugar beets and dairies, has transformed into the Southwest’s destination for tech giants and startups at an amazing pace. Celebrate the pioneering families who persevered to make Chandler a city filled with rich and diverse culture.
Proceeds from the luncheon will support history education, programs and exhibits at the Chandler Museum.
