Just because your kids might not be so concerned about their waistline or their bad habits doesn’t mean they don’t need any New Year’s resolutions! This could be a great way to motivate your kids to do some not-so-fun activities, since it will be a personal goal to them.
Ask your child what’s on their list for the new year, and tell them some of your goals for 2014. If your child can’t think of any here are some helpful suggestions: 2014 kids new years resolutions

  • Brush your teeth twice a day, and flossing at least a few times a week
  • No texting or playing games while at the table, or at any special events
  • Put the toys away after playing everyday
  • Practice running everyday to get faster
  • Stop drinking soda or other sugary drinks
  • Do homework every day right after school
  • Drink more water
  • Put on sunscreen every day before school
  • Always wearing a helmet when you ride your bike
  • Practice your favorite hobbies for at least 20 minutes everyday
  • Making sure to get exercise everyday – whether it be a walk, team sports, dance or skateboarding
  • Be kind to friends, family, teachers and coaches
  • Help mom and dad with chores around the house like cleaning, groceries, or yard work

It’s a good time to reinforce other good values such as saying NO to drugs and alcohol and staying safe around strangers.  The new year is also a way to introduce new behaviors or activities, such as table manners or politeness.  Remember to have your little ones see the dentist at least twice this year, and keep fit and happy!
We wish you a happy, healthy new year from Kidtastic Dental!
