It’s been said that laughter is infectious, which is perhaps the reason why kids are so important in the lives of adults. On average, a child laughs about 300 times a day compared to adult who laughs 15! At what point did we become 20x more serious?

Laughing is a critical part of finding happiness in life. It seems adults have much more they can learn from children in this department – they’re a constant reminder of how laughter and happiness go hand in hand. There’s no more powerful connecting force in the world than a good laugh!
Why are kids so often in the mood to laugh? Research suggests it has a lot to do with having their basic needs provided after, with little willingness to complicate these conditions. Have you ever witnessed a child entertain themselves with a dirt pile, screen door or nothing at all? Most kids don’t concern themselves over the things they don’t have!
Disclaimer here – being an adult doesn’t automatically make us miserable, but it’s testament to having more worries and concerns as we age. Of course, worrying about keeping up with the mortgage isn’t quite nearly as fun as splashing around in the bathtub, but a little laughter goes a long way in relieving the stress it introduces to our lives.
It’s time to learn a lesson from our kids! Parents should make a conscious effort to add more laughter to their everyday lives and take a load off. Here are some general tips to follow …

  • Don’t let your kids have all the fun, get involved! Play with your kids more often.
  • Pick out a favorite movie or TV show to watch during the week, guaranteed to make you laugh.
  • Get together with friends more often! Socializing has a tendency to bring about more laughter.
