Crown Fracture
The crown, the most visible part of the tooth, is often the first to sustain trauma. Crown fractures range from minor enamel cracks (not an emergency) to more severe cases involving pulp exposure, which require immediate care.
A pediatric dentist will assess the fracture’s severity using dental X-rays. Changes in tooth color, such as pink or yellowish tints, may indicate an emergency. Minor fractures can often be treated with dental sealant, while more serious cases may require pulp treatment.
If a crown fracture occurs, contact a pediatric dentist promptly. Jagged enamel can irritate oral tissues and increase the risk of infection.
Root Fracture
Dental Concussion
Injured Cheek, Lip or Tongue
Fractured Jaw
Head Injury or Trauma
If your child has suffered head trauma, seek immediate medical attention at the Emergency Room. Even without loss of consciousness, a doctor should check for potential delayed concussions or internal bleeding.
