The hot Arizona sun has come and it’s here to stay. Whether you’re an Arizona native or a transplant from a colder area (literally anywhere), you know the summer months can be pretty grueling. But there is no point in staying inside for four months only to emerge in September! Here are some great summer activities that keep your family close and cool.
Your kids will love our suggestions for the best summer ever.
“Buried” Treasure in an Ice Block

This fun activity allows your children to cool off and lets them rediscover some old toys! Simply place some (water proof) toys in a Rubbermaid container, submerge them in distilled water, place the container in the freezer overnight and give your child a small hammer so they can reach their “treasure”.
This is great for summer birthday parties too!
The Water Blob

If you frequent Pinterest chances are you have seen this fun DIY project already. It’s essentially a plastic “blob” filled with water that is great for bouncing around in the backyard. Perfect for families without a swimming pool or little ones who haven’t learned to swim yet.

Sun Melted Recycled Crayons

Put that pesky sun to work by recycling old crayon stubs into fun shapes that your children can still use to draw! All you need are some cookie cutters, crayons, aluminum foil and the of course… the sun!
