Phoenix may not be a winter wonderland with sheets of white snow, but we do know how to celebrate the holiday season! Here are some activities that the whole family can enjoy as we close in on Christmas and the New Year!
Winter Wonderland at Westgate Entertainment District
Kickoff your holiday celebration at the Winter Wonderland in the Westgate entertainment district, the event takes place at 6:30 every day until Christmas Eve. Winter Wonderland features photos with Santa Claus, the lighting Westgate’s 33-foot holiday tree and holiday skating performances.
Additionally, every evening Fountain Park is magically turned into a living snow globe with a snow show as well as horse drawn carriage rides for the whole family.
Visit the Westgate Entertainment District in Glendale for more information.
Heard Museum
Connect with Arizona’s Native American roots with a visit to the Heard Museum. The Downtown Museum is offering guests to take home Native-themed ornaments hand-crafted by American Indian artists from the Heard Museum Shops.
Prices for admission vary, visit Heard.org for more information.
Mini Golf
Visit Golfland’s King Arthur’s Quest miniature golf course which every year is decorated with thousands of holiday lights for the season. Open daily at Sundown, the Golfland event occurs between the dates of December 7th and the 27th. Certain days of the week have been dubbed “snow days” where there is a small charge for children to play in the snow.
Visits from Santa occur every Sunday! Visit Golfland.com for more information.
Zoolights
A Phoenix tradition for several years, the Phoenix Zoo puts up an incredible holiday display of lights. The event is called ZooLights and occurs in the evening so don’t expect to see any live animals! The event is absolutely stunning and puts on display holiday lights, music, and lighted animal sculptures.
Here are some photos from this year’s event.
