The valley’s a great place to explore both the landscape for most of the year and to take in the great events and venues all around the valley. If you’ve got a free day with the kids and want to take them on an adventure, here are some spots to check out:
Phoenix Zoo
The Phoenix Zoo is home to more than 1,400 animals including more than 30 different endangered or threatened species from around the world. The zoo is open from 9am to 5pm throughout the spring, and members get to enter the zoo an hour early!
Musical Instrument Museum
MIM displays more than 6,000 instruments collected from around 200 of the world’s countries and territories. Visitors can also see instruments from music icons such as John Lennon, Taylor Swift, Elvis Presley, Carlos Santana, and many more in the Artist Gallery.
Jerome, AZ
Once a thriving mining camp between the late-1880s and early 1950s, Jerome is now a bustling tourist magnet and artistic community with a population of about 450. It includes a modicum of artists, craft people, musicians, writers, bed and breakfast owners, museum caretakers and gift-shop proprietors.
Red Rock State Park. Located in Sedona, unbelievably beautiful red rocks surround this 100 year old town. Twenty minutes away is Slide Rock State Park, home of nature’s own made smooth sandstone water slides.
Arizona Science Center
Their facility includes more than 300 hands-on exhibits; an IMAX Theater seating 285; a multi-media Dorrance Planetarium seating 200; and amenities including a gift shop, food service and lunchroom.
Children’s Museum
The Children’s Museum of Phoenix’s mission is to engage the minds, muscles and imaginations of children and the grown-ups who care about them. With hands-on, interactive exhibits designed for children ages birth to 10, the Museum focuses on learning through play.

From thrilling water parks to our world-famous miniature golf courses, our locations have something for everyone. Their Mesa location will have race cars, bumper boats and their six water slides open in 2014 from March 8th through March 30th from noon to 6 p.m. and on weekends until May 23rd when the full water park opens.
