Routine Dental Care for your Baby
Just as well-child checkups keep your child’s body strong and healthy, regular dental care is crucial for maintaining a bright smile and building lifelong oral health habits.
At Kidtastic Pediatric Dental & Orthodontics, our board-certified pediatric dentists deliver top-quality care in a fun, stress-free environment that helps your child feel comfortable. We ensure even our youngest patients understand every step of the process and learn how to keep their smiles healthy at home!
Your Child's First Dental Visit
Schedule your baby’s first dental visit within six months of their first tooth erupting, typically around their first birthday. Early visits help prevent decay and detect potential issues early. Our team will assess your baby’s oral health and offer tips for proper dental care. A positive approach to these visits helps your child feel comfortable with routine checkups.
Leading by Example
Young children are natural mimics, so take advantage of this by brushing and flossing daily in front of them. They’ll quickly grasp the importance of good oral hygiene. When your child shows interest, give them their own toothbrush and let them "brush" along with you. Look for toothbrushes with short, chunky handles for easy grip. Since most children won’t have the dexterity to fully clean their teeth until around age six or seven, you’ll need to help with that. Make brushing enjoyable with flavored toothpaste, character-themed brushes, or even fun brushing songs. The goal is to create healthy oral habits early, setting the foundation for a lifetime of cavity-free smiles!
